Marcus Rashford: Barcelona reluctant to trigger purchase option

Having joined FC Barcelona this season from Manchester United, Marcus Rashford continues to impress. His loan includes a €30 million purchase option, which the Catalan club could activate... but perhaps not right away.

A possible staggered payment

According to the English press, Barcelona is considering extending the loan in order to spread out the payment. The club hopes to include a mandatory purchase clause to secure the transfer, while not paying the full amount immediately. President Joan Laporta commented:

We could extend the loan. There are different solutions, such as paying part of the purchase option now and the rest later.

Rashford has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 38 matches this season, 21 of which he started. His performances are convincing Barcelona to keep him, even as the club looks to manage the transfer's financial impact.
