Maxwell Konadu Highlights Gap Between Ghana and South Africa: 'Our Players Fight Harder
Maxwell Konadu one of Ghana’s most seasoned coaches has shared compelling insights from his stint with South Africa’s Black Leopards, highlighting stark contrast between football in Ghana & South Africa.
“A South African player grows up having almost everything european player does, From pitches to equipment and financial support it’s all there. That reduces the urgency to move abroad” Konadu told Akoma FM.
In contrast Konadu praised Ghanaian players for their mental toughness and relentless drive to succeed despite structural challenges.
“Our boys grow up fighting for every opportunity. That hunger that desperation gives them edge”.
Though his South African adventure ended after just 17 match, Konadu considers it success. Black Leopards climbed to 2nd place early in the season but after 3 straight home draws, the parties mutually agreed to part ways.
Now back in Ghana, the former Asante Kotoko & Black Stars assistant coach confirmed he’s in talks with clubs abroad but is in no rush.
“I’m looking for the right opportunity one that fits my goals & values”.
