Kylian Mbappé ended Real Madrid’s 1 -0 win over Deportivo Alavés in dramatic fashion after receiving straight red card for reckless tackle late in the 1st half. The dismissal marks his first sending off since joining the Spanish giants and his 1st red card in nearly 6 years.

Heated End to the First Half

Although Eduardo Camavinga scored the match winner with long range strike in the 34 minute, it was Mbappé’s moment of madness that stole the headlines.

The French superstar lunged dangerously at Antonio Blanco, prompting the referee to show direct red card just before the break.

Despite being reduced to ten men, Real Madrid held on. Alavés also finished the game with 10 after Manu Sánchez was sent off in the 2nd half. The win boosts Madrid’s tally to 66 point keeping them in 2nd place behind La Liga leaders Barcelona who sit on 70 point.

Mbappé’s Red Card Record: Still Rare

Mbappé’s red card against Alavés is only the 4th of his professional career across 530 matches a surprisingly low number for player who often plays at high intensity.

Until this weekend, Mbappé'd received only 4 yellow cards in Real Madrid shirt & had avoided any dismissals, making this rare misstep in otherwise disciplined start to his time in Spain.

With the title race heating up, Madrid'll now have to cope without their star man for at least one match as suspension looms.
