Mechelen: Rafik Belghali won't be leaving... for now

Highly sought-after, Rafik Belghali has attracted serious interest from Toulouse FC, Hellas Verona, and Augsburg. But for now, his current club Mechelen is firmly closing the door on a transfer.

During a press conference, head coach Frederik Vanderbiest was clear:

If the top clubs only make their transfers later, it will be the same for us. A Rafik Belghali or a Nikola Storm won't be leaving now.

The Mechelen management is in no rush. Tied to the club until June 2026, the 23-year-old Algerian right-back could still pack his bags in mid-August, or even in the very last hours of the transfer window, should a convincing offer come in. The Belghali saga is far from over.
