Mercato: Wilfried Singo set to leave AS Monaco
Just as Eric Dier's arrival is made official, AS Monaco is preparing to turn another page in its defensive lineup. The Principality club will not stand in the way of Wilfried Singo's departure, with his exit now all but confirmed for this summer.
This decision comes after frank discussions between coach Adi Hütter and Monaco's management. Although the Austrian manager recognizes the Ivorian defender’s athletic qualities, he has also voiced frustration with his inconsistency and repeated absences. That lack of reliability ultimately weighed heavily in the staff’s considerations.
Yet Singo’s Ligue 1 stats are not to be dismissed: the Elephant featured in 65% of possible minutes, notched one goal, and provided two assists. Crowned African champion with Ivory Coast in February, the right-back still enjoys a strong reputation across the continent.
Is Serie A the next stop for Wilfried Singo?
His future now looks set to move away from France’s Ligue 1 and closer to Italy’s Serie A. Napoli and Fiorentina have shown keen interest, while Torino, his former club, attempted a reunion—without success.
Monaco is reportedly seeking around €20 million to let their player go, a price tag that some Italian teams could well meet.
