Messi in Luanda? Argentina Set for Landmark Angola Friendly in November
Argentina’s national team led by Lionel Messi could make rare appearance on African soil this November with high profile international friendly against Angola reportedly in the works.
The potential clash is part of Angola’s 50th independence celebrations with discussions already underway between the Angolan Football Federation FAF and the Argentine Football Association AFA.
If confirmed, the game would be played in Luanda on 11 Nov, marking Argentina’s 1st senior level match in Angola.
Diplomatic Meeting Seals the Intention
The match gained momentum following meeting between FAF president Fernando Simoes and AFA counterpart Claudio Tapia in Buenos Aires.
While both sides stopped short of confirming the fixture outright, they emphasized plans to strengthen football collaboration & international visibility.
“We believe that sharing experiences and taking joint actions can contribute significantly to the development of football in both countries” Simoes said.
6–7 Million Dollar Price Tag and Messi’s Involvement
The AFA's known to charge between 6 million dollar and 7 million dollar for organizing full scale friendly match , a fee that includes appearance rights, logistics and promotional activities.
According to Angola’s state news agency, Lionel Messi's expected to lead the Albiceleste squad, alongside other stars like Angel Di Maria, in what would be once in lifetime spectacle for African fans.
Global Tour Plans
This friendly would be part of Argentina's post qualifier international tour which may also include matches in China & Qatar in Oct & Nov according to Diario Ole and journalist Gaston Edul.
