Michy Batshuayi leaves Europe
Michy Batshuayi is changing continents. At 32, the Belgian striker leaves Eintracht Frankfurt to join Abha Club, marking the first time in his career he will play for a club outside the UEFA confederation.
A new adventure in Saudi Arabia
Michy Batshuayi's move to Abha comes after a brief stint at Frankfurt. The Belgian joined the German club in 2025, making 21 appearances and scoring just four goals.
The transfer fee for his move to Saudi Arabia was not disclosed, but the deal was reportedly completed as a free transfer, with the striker's contract in Germany having expired. The exact length of his new contract has also not been revealed.
A career shaped by Chelsea
Batshuayi has enjoyed a notably rich career. After making his name at Standard Liège, he moved to Olympique de Marseille before signing for Chelsea in 2016 for around €39 million. With the Blues, he won the Premier League in 2016-17 and the FA Cup in 2017-18.
He then went on a series of loan spells, including at Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace, and Beşiktaş. In 2022, he made a permanent move to Turkey with Fenerbahçe before joining Galatasaray in 2024. For the Belgian national team, Batshuayi has 55 caps, 27 goals, and 6 assists to his name.
