Money Talks: Chiefs Face Al Ahly Threat in Pursuit of Fiston Mayele

Former SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt's boldly claimed that Fiston Mayele could be the answer to Kaizer Chiefs nine year trophy drought , if they can win the race to sign the Congolese forward.
Mayele 30, was the hero in Pyramids FC’s dramatic 3 - 2 CAF Champions league semi final win over Orlando Pirates netting twice to send the egyptian side to their first ever final where they’ll meet Mamelodi Sundowns.
Speaking to Soccer Beat, Hunt said:
“Mayele could be 30 goal striker in the PSL. He’s true poacher , strong, direct and deadly in the box. If Chiefs sign him and give him service they could win the treble”.
Mayele flourished under current Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi at Young Africans and is reportedly open to reunion. However securing the striker won’t be simple. Al Ahly've entered the race and Pyramids are keen to extend his contract beyond 2026.
A source told Soccer Laduma:
“It’s all about the money now. Pyramids pay big and any deal must match what Mayele’s getting or more”.
With 15 goal and 2 assist in 35 match this season, Mayele's become one of Africa’s most sought after forwards.
Chiefs hopes of landing him could hinge not only on nostalgia or coaching connections but on whether they can match Al Ahly’s financial firepower.
