Moroccan FA Denies Rumors of Walid Regragui’s Dismissal

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation FRMF's firmly denied recent rumors suggesting imminent dismissal of Walid Regragui, Morocco's national team coach, ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON.

False Reports on Regragui’s Future

Speculation spread across social media & some South African media outlets claiming that Spanish coach José Riveiro, the current Orlando Pirates manager, was being considered as Regragui’s replacement.

However Moroccan football officials dismissed these reports as baseless calling them an attempt to destabilize the team.

A high ranking FRMF source told Hesport:

"These rumors have no foundation. They're part of campaign aimed at creating distractions for our national team before major competitions"

FRMF Fully Supports Regragui

The same source emphasized that:

Regragui’s contract runs until 2026 and the FA remains fully committed to the project under his leadership.

The rumors are part of larger misinformation campaign, similar to previous claims about Morocco losing its AFCON 2025 hosting rights.

Regragui's Historic Impact

Since taking charge in 2022 Regragui led Morocco to unprecedented World Cup semi final in Qatar, marking the best ever finish for African team.

Now, he's preparing to guide the Atlas Lions on home soil in the AFCON 2025 where Morocco aims to win its 1st continental title since 1976.

For now, all speculation has been shut down, Regragui remains Morocco's coach as they continue preparations for their continental challenge.
