In a thrilling final held at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, on Saturday, April 19, the Moroccan U17 team clinched the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history. The Atlas Cubs triumphed over Mali in a penalty shootout (4-2) after a goalless draw at the end of regular time and extra time.

This historic triumph immediately sparked the interest of several European clubs, who are now moving to recruit the young African champions.

Moroccan U17 talents attract the attention of European clubs!

Among the most sought-after players is Driss Ait Cheikh, a defender from Chabab Mohammedia, who has caught the eye of prestigious clubs such as AS Monaco and FC Barcelona. The young talent could thus benefit from an exceptional opportunity to progress within a top European club if his transfer materializes in the coming weeks.

Similarly, Ahmed Mouhoub, a midfielder from FUS Rabat, and goalkeeper Chouaib Bellaarouch distinguished themselves during the competition. Their performances have impressed several French teams.

According to the WinWin site, Amiens and Lorient (French Ligue 2) are interested in Ahmed Mouhoub. Meanwhile, the FUS management would not oppose his departure, hoping to profit financially from his transfer.

Individually, Abdellah Ouazane (16 years old) was voted the best player of the tournament, thanks to his remarkable performances throughout the competition. As for Chouaib Bellaarouch, he was crowned the best goalkeeper of the 2025 U17 AFCON, confirming the defensive solidity of the Atlas Cubs.
