Moviola: was Espérance robbed by VAR against Sundowns?
Espérance de Tunis was unable to overcome the Mamelodi Sundowns obstacle in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
Defeated in the first leg by the narrowest of margins, the blood and gold club held to a draw (0-0) at home in the second leg, which took place on Tuesday.

Following the clash in Radès, Tunisian fans cried foul, accusing VAR of unjustly canceling the goal scored by striker Achraf Jabri. That's why Foot Africa sought the opinion of expert Moviola Amine Barkallah, who had this to say.
Espérance's goal is valid, there's no doubt about it. I think the VAR operator didn't do their job properly in terms of calibration, and the referee didn't check this point before the match kickoff. It's important to understand that the VAR staff marks the players involved with points during offside disputes. Then, the software makes the necessary calculations before drawing the line that will determine the players' positions at the time of the ball's release. It's clear there was a mishandling by the VAR officials, and it's up to CAF to take the necessary steps to discipline those at fault.

In addition to Mamelodi Sundowns, two other clubs have booked their spot in the CAF Champions League semi-finals, while the last qualifier will be known on Wednesday following the second leg between MC Alger from Algeria and Orlando Pirates from South Africa.
