Odilon Kossounou, an uncertain club future
Atalanta Bergamo would like to keep Odilon Kossounou, but the condition is clear: €25 million or nothing. According to reports, the purchase option included in the Ivorian defender's loan deal is not mandatory. And Bayer Leverkusen is not considering any discount.
The Italian club, impressed by the 23-year-old's performances, wants to retain him. Solid and disciplined, Odilon Kossounou has played 23 matches across all competitions this season. He has managed to win the trust of Gian Piero Gasperini in a demanding squad.
But the size of the buyout clause, considered high by the Bergamo management, is complicating matters. Leverkusen, for its part, has no intention of reintegrating him into its sporting project. He is no longer part of Alonso's plans. Under contract until June 2026 with the German club, Kossounou could therefore be sold to another club if Atalanta does not move quickly. Several European sides are monitoring his situation closely.
