With his current contract set to expire at the end of this month, it is now confirmed that Idrissa Gana Gueye will not be leaving the Toffees this summer. The news was officially announced by the English club on Monday, June 9, 2025.

Everton FC and Idrissa Gana Gueye share a true footballing love story. Having returned to the club in 2022, three years after his departure for Paris Saint-Germain, the 35-year-old Senegalese midfielder has once again established himself as a key starter in the Goodison Park engine room. After a standout campaign that saw him named Everton’s Player of the Season for 2024-2025, the Africa Cup of Nations champion has convinced the Toffees that he still has plenty to offer, regardless of his age. As a result, the club has decided to place its trust in him once more.

After an exhausting season in which the team finished 13th in the Premier League, just ahead of West Ham, the Merseyside club took stock of its squad. In a statement released on Monday morning through its digital channels, Everton listed the players whose contracts are expiring this summer. At the same time, the Toffees publicly revealed the names of those they wish to retain. Among them is Idrissa Gana Gueye, whose contract will be renewed. For now, the details and duration of the new deal remain undisclosed.
