Official: Ismaël Traoré leaves FC Metz after three seasons
FC Metz officially announced this Monday, June 16, the end of its collaboration with Ismaël Traoré. Arriving in 2022 at the Lorraine club, the experienced Ivorian defender made his mark in Moselle with his commitment and his leadership role within the squad.
As early as April 2025, Ismaël Traoré had hinted at his intention to end his professional career, though he hadn’t completely ruled out the possibility of extending his stay. While the exact date of his retirement remains unknown, his departure from FC Metz is now official.
At 38, Ismaël Traoré draws the curtain on his Metz adventure. Signed on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 from Angers, the Ivorian international leaves Les Grenats after making a significant impact in the dressing room with his on-field performances (82 matches, 5 goals, 2 assists), professionalism, sense of duty, and ability to mentor younger players. On Monday, FC Metz released a statement confirming the player's exit at the end of his contract.
“Three seasons after his arrival, Ismaël Traoré is leaving FC Metz. In three years wearing the Metz shirt and with 82 appearances, Ismaël Traoré has certainly left his mark and will remain a positive memory for Grenats supporters. FC Metz would like to warmly thank Ismaël for his dedication and professionalism, and wishes him all the best for the future!” the club wrote.
