English striker Jamie Vardy (38) officially announced this Thursday the end of his journey with Leicester City, after an exceptional 13-year career. In 2012, he joined the "Foxes" from Fleetwood Town, a fifth-division club, for a sum of 1 million pounds sterling ($1.33 million).

The Leicester veteran, star, and iconic goalscorer of the club, shared a video on his official account on the social network "X", in which he announced his definitive departure from the club.

In his message, Vardy stated: "It is with sadness that I realize this day has come, but I knew it would eventually arrive. I have spent 13 incredible years at this club and have experienced many successes. I have gone through tough times, but the majority have been extraordinary."

He added: "It is finally time for me to close this chapter with the team, which is extremely painful. But I believe it is the right time. I just want to sincerely thank you all for welcoming me among you."

He continued: "Leicester will always be a place dear to my heart and I commit to following it for many more years, wishing it even more success. For now, it's a goodbye, but you will see me again, I am sure."

Meanwhile, Leicester City announced on its official website that Vardy's last match in the Foxes shirt will take place at the King Power Stadium on May 18, against Ipswich Town, as part of the 37th day of the Premier League. During this match, he will be honored for his major and exceptional contributions to the club's history.

This announcement comes in a challenging context for Leicester City, which is on a streak of 9 home league games without a win and hasn't scored a single goal. The club was also relegated to the Championship alongside Southampton, after a season where both teams had reached the Premier League together.
