Official: Odilon Kossounou signs permanently with Atalanta Bergame

Ivorian international Odilon Kossounou has officially left Bayer Leverkusen to join Atalanta Bergame on June 13, 2025. The Italian club has exercised the €25 million purchase option after a highly successful loan season.
Following a loan that began in August 2024, Atalanta has today confirmed the permanent transfer of Odilon Kossounou, who is now under contract until June 2029. The club paid €25 million—the sum agreed upon in the loan deal—to secure the Ivorian defender, who had attracted interest from several European teams.
His consistent performances this season convinced the management: 23 appearances in all competitions (including 16 starts), mainly in Serie A, the Champions League, and the Italian Super Cup. Despite several injuries in October 2024 and again in April 2025, his defensive impact won over the Dea’s leadership. Atalanta thus beats out competition from AS Roma, who were considering matching the deal.
"The Percassi family, the Pagliuca family, and the entire Nerazzurri club express their complete satisfaction with today's agreement and wish Odilon the very best—both personally and collectively—as he continues his journey with the Nerazzurri," stated the Italian club.
