OFFICIAL: RS Berkane crowned CAF Confederation Cup champions for the third time in club history!
Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RS Berkane) have been crowned champions of the CAF Confederation Cup for the third time in their history, following a 1-1 draw this afternoon against local side Simba SC at the New Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
The Moroccans capitalized on their 2-0 victory in the first leg, thanks to goals from Lamin Camara and Osama Al Miloui.
The Tanzanians took the lead in the 17th minute through Joshua Mutale, before Malian midfielder Soumaila Sidibé netted the equalizer for Moïne Chaâbani’s side deep into stoppage time, in the 93rd minute.
RS Berkane crowned champions for the third time in their history!
With this triumph, RS Berkane add a third trophy to their cabinet in this competition, following previous victories in 2020 and 2022, firmly establishing themselves among the elite clubs of Morocco and the African continent.
The Orange club also secured their spot in the CAF Super Cup, where they will take on the winner of the CAF Champions League final, which will soon see Egypt’s Pyramids FC face off against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns. The return leg between these two sides is scheduled for next Saturday.
