OM on track to extend Ismaël Bennacer's loan
Olympique de Marseille's management is working hard to finalize the extension of Algerian midfielder Ismaël Bennacer's loan for another season, following his outstanding performances since joining during the winter transfer window.
At 27, Bennacer arrived at Marseille on a six-month loan from AC Milan, with a €12 million purchase option that has yet to be triggered.
According to L’Équipe, negotiations between the two clubs are progressing positively, thanks in large part to Bennacer's desire to stay and compete in European competitions with OM next season.
From his very first minutes in Marseille, Bennacer stood out with his solid play, catching the eye during his debut as a substitute against Angers and hinting that he could become a key starter and influential player in Roberto De Zerbi's system.
However, recurring injuries and fitness issues—especially after missing around 20 matches with Milan at the start of the season due to a muscle tear—have hampered the consistency of his performances.
