“Open Heart Surgery” Still Needed: Rangnick Criticizes United’s Leadership

Former interim Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick's criticized the club's leadership for wasting over 750 million Pound Sterling on transfers with little to show for it.

Rangnick Blames Structure , Not Just Signings

In bold statement to Austrian channel Canal Plus Rangnick claimed that despite his warnings during the 2021 - 2022 season , the club ignored structural issues and instead poured money into new players.

“I said some fundamental things needed to change. but since then, £700 – £750 million has been spent and the situation in the league's only worsened” he said.

Rangnick who served as interim coach after Ole Gunnar Solskjær's departure, was originally meant to take up long term director role.
However that plan was scrapped when the club brought in Erik ten Hag & Rangnick left to manage Austria.

New Manager , Same Mistakes?

Rangnick also pointed to tactical inconsistency. He criticized the decision to hire Ruben Amorim who favors 3 or 5 man defense system despite United’s squad being built around traditional back four setup.

“You can see it clearly in the Premier League especially against teams they used to beat easily” Rangnick added.

United sacked Ten Hag in October due to poor results and currently sit 14th in the league standings.

Their only hope for european spot lies in winning the europa league.

Rangnick'd previously described the club as needing open heart surgery to return to the top.
