Orlando Pirates hire new coach after Jose Rivero
Orlando Pirates are still searching for a successor to Jose Rivero, but have announced the temporary appointment of Mandla Ncikazi, who has taken charge of the team on an interim basis until the end of the current season, after which a permanent coach will be appointed.
At 56 years old, Mandla Ncikazi will continue working within the club's technical setup after his brief spell as interim manager. During his four-game tenure with the Buccaneers, he secured one victory and three draws.
A reliable insider praised Ncikazi’s contributions, stating, “Coach Mandla has always performed his duties with professionalism and dedication in various roles, earning the club’s deep respect.”
The source also clarified, “His contract runs until next year, and he will remain with the team until then. The club’s plans include retaining him as part of the technical staff for the upcoming season.”
Rowan Human is a target for the Orlando Pirates
As the former Orlando Pirates target announces his departure from AmaZulu FC, it opens a new door for Orlando Pirates as a potential option.
Midfielder Rowan Human is set to depart AmaZulu FC when his contract expires at the end of June, with his representatives now pitching him to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. The 24-year-old, who failed to agree on a new deal with Usuthu, will be available as a free agent.
Meanwhile, press reports have revealed that the South African club wants to sign former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena.
A source close to the situation confirmed: “Human’s camp has approached both Pirates and Chiefs, and given his return to form, it might not take long for him to find a new club.”
This comes after Orlando Pirates previously attempted to secure his signature in January and could now renew their interest during the upcoming transfer window.
