Orlando Pirates plan to offload several players!

After announcing Jose Rivero's departure at the end of the season, the club will be looking to offload a number of names in order to replenish the squad for the next phase, including players in several positions including defence, midfield and attack.

Orlando Pirates look to move beyond local dominance

After dominating the MTN8 title for three consecutive seasons, Orlando Pirates are now aiming for the Nedbank Cup title, for which they will play the final against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

This season, they reached the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League and came close to reaching the final before they were thwarted by Pyramids FC in Egypt in the second leg of the semi-final, losing 3-2.

Who are the stars of the team?

Orlando Pirates are set for a significant squad overhaul, beginning with the loan move of young goalkeeper Siyabonga Dladla. This temporary transfer will provide the promising shot-stopper with much-needed playing time and valuable experience to develop his skills.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are preparing to part ways with several first-team players. The club has reportedly decided to release defenders Maliele, Ndulundlo, and Kimvuidi, along with midfielder Lepasa in the upcoming transfer window. Sources indicate these four players are currently in limbo, with negotiations underway to facilitate their departures amicably. According to SNL reports, all are expected to exit by season's end.

In a separate development, star striker Patrick Maswanganyi has attracted serious European interest. His former club, Oliveirense, is pushing hard for his signature, though Pirates have slapped a R40 million price tag on their prized attacker – a clear statement of his value to the Soweto giants.
