Osman Bukari Set for Red Star Return After MLS Struggles

Ghanaian star Osman Bukari could be heading back to familiar ground with Red Star Belgrade making serious push to re sign him this summer.

The Serbian champions are eyeing the 26 year old winger as key attacking addition ahead of their 2025 campaign.

MLS Spell Fails to Ignite

Bukari left Red Star in 2024 to join Austin FC in 7 million euro deal, signing long term contract through 2027. But his time in Major League Soccer's failed to deliver the expected spark.

In 24 appearances Bukari's recorded just 2 goal & 3 assist, struggling to adapt to the system and style of play in the United States. His limited impact has triggered speculation that Austin FC may now be open to selling the Ghana international.

Belgrade Reunion on the Horizon?

Red Star're keen to bring Bukari back , a player who thrived during his previous stint with the club between 2022 & 2024 scoring 25 goal and providing 20 assist in 78 game.

He originally joined from Gent for 3 million euro and quickly became fan favourite thanks to his explosive pace and direct approach.

Sources close to the player suggest Bukari's open to the return with his familiarity with the club, fans and league making the move attractive. Talks have already started between the two sides and Red Star are reportedly ready to make him their marquee summer signing.

Contract Could Complicate Deal

Despite interest on both sides, Bukari’s long term deal with Austin could prove hurdle. However with Red Star determined and Bukari receptive negotiations could accelerate as the window approaches.

For Bukari , a return to Belgrade may be the perfect reset and for Red Star, it could be the key to reigniting their attack ahead of big season at home and in europe.
