Ousmane Diomandé targeted by Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest is ramping up its pursuit of Ousmane Diomandé. The English side has opened talks with Sporting CP for the Ivorian centre-back and hopes to reach an agreement swiftly.

Negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs and the player's representatives. Nottingham Forest is reportedly ready to invest around €40 million to convince the Portuguese club to part ways with their Ivorian international, although Sporting insists no official offer has been made at this stage.

A top priority for Oliver Glasner

Nottingham Forest's interest is directly linked to the plans of new manager Oliver Glasner. The Austrian tactician is a big admirer of Diomandé, whom he already tried to sign during his time at Crystal Palace.

Glasner aims to implement a three-man defense and sees the Sporting star as the ideal candidate to fill the right-sided role. Forest has been tracking the defender for over a year and views him as a major reinforcement to help the club take the next step.

Sporting sets its demands

Since arriving at Sporting CP from FC Midtjylland, Ousmane Diomandé has established himself as one of the most promising defenders in the Portuguese league. At just 22, he still has several years left on his contract and a release clause set at €80 million.

However, the Lisbon club values his departure at between €35 and €40 million, opening the door for discussions with Nottingham Forest.

A defender already proven at the highest level

An Ivorian international, Diomandé featured at the last World Cup with the Elephants. He also shares the national team with Ibrahim Sangaré, Nottingham Forest's midfielder.

The deal is progressing between all parties. Forest is eager to wrap up the signing quickly to provide Oliver Glasner with the central defender he has requested as the foundation for his new project.
