Peter Shalulile reveals who his international role model is!
Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has revealed the two Bafana Bafana internationals he considers to be his role models in international football and representing the national team. The Namibian star is having an excellent season so far in all competitions and the Namibian skipper has been part of every plan for Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso this season.
What has Peter Shalulile done this season for Mamelodi Sundowns?
After scoring a goal against Esperance Tunisia in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season, the player increased his scoring tally to 19 goals for his team in all competitions, and with this goal, the player became the most stable professional player in South Africa to score goals in the Champion's League. His journey with Mamelodi Sundowns began in 2020 with his debut against Jwaneng Galaxy, and since that day, the rest is history.
Shalulile is just three goals away from breaking Siyabonga Nomvethe's record as the PSL's all-time leading scorer and with seven games left to play this season, the player is sure to break that record.
The all-time record of 129 goals is held by Siyabonga Nomvethe.
Which international stars inspire him?
“As a striker, you always want to score goals, not compete with other people but compete with yourself because you are inspired by players playing outside the country, who are like Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland, But then it’s a good feeling. It[scoring goals] wants me to work harder, and I give credit to the coaches that I have worked with.
Shalulile said.
The ones off the scene and on the pitch, the ones that do the finishing drills with me. Those are the people that I give credit to and most of all to God, who always gives me the opportunity to score, We all want to be champions of Africa. We all want to win, so we will do our best and we will keep on believing.
Peter Shalulile concluded.
