Peter Shalulile scores as Yanga secure first win post-Mngqithi era
Peter Shalulile found the back of the net as Young Africans secured a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Mashujaa in the NBC Tanzania Premier League.
The defending champions found themselves trailing seven minutes after the first whistle, falling to a goal from Crispin Ngushi.
However, Yanga restored parity in the 22nd minute through Shalulile, who scored his sixth goal in eight appearances across all competitions thus far this term.
Clement Mzize completed the comeback in the 77th minute, ensuring TimuYaWananchi claim the all-important three points at home.
Yanga, as a result, remain in second place with 22 points, and are two points adrift of log leaders Simba SC, albeit played one game more.
Notably, it was the club's first win since parting ways with South African tactician Manqoba Mngqithi after a goalless draw with relegation threatened TRA United.
Mngqithi's compatriot, Simo Dladla, has been entrusted with steering the ship on the interim, with Yanga actively in search of a new boss in the dugout.
With Yanga set to face Cedric Kaze's Kagera Sugar on Sunday, Dladla will be eager to maintain momentum should he still be at the helm.
