Foot Africa understands that Angolan giants Petro de Luanda have reached an agreement with Orlando Pirates for the extension of Gilberto's loan deal.

The 24-year-old forward signed for the Buccaneers in July 2024, but failed to adapt to the rigorous South African Betway Premiership.

Gilberto made 12 appearances with no goal contribution across all competitions for Pirates as he couldn't command a regular place in the starting XI.

As a result, he was sent back to Luanda on a six-month loan in January last year. The two clubs eventually agreed a deal to extend his stay until the end of December.

Now, the player was expected to report back to Pirates, but a close source has told this publication that Gilberto's loan has been further prolonged by another six months.

This comes after the Angolan champions struck an agreement with the winger's entourage on personal terms as the Soweto giants insisted for Petro to cover his full wages.

Luanda and Gilberto were initially at loggerheads and his future hung in the balance towards the end of 2025, but issues have been ironed out for the player to remain in his native country.
