2026 World Cup: Théo Hernandez names the top favorite
Théo Hernandez spoke to AS from Clairefontaine, where he named his top favorite for the 2026 World Cup.
Asked about the tournament favorites, the Al Hilal left-back placed Spain among the leading contenders for the world title, alongside several other football powerhouses. “Spain is the favorite. We’re also in the running. I think Germany is right up there as well, along with other top teams. There are a lot of really good teams out there. That’s why I say this. Even some teams that, at first glance, don’t look threatening can give you a tough time. As I said, we have to take it step by step and focus only on ourselves. It’s true that we’re an incredible team. For me, we’re the best team, but we need to go one game at a time.” he said.
Regarding France’s chances, the former AC Milan player remains cautious: “Everyone says we’re the favorites to win the World Cup. But the truth is, winning a World Cup is far from easy. Many teams are playing at an exceptional level. We have to take it one step at a time. We begin on the 16th against Senegal, which is our most important match, and we need to approach it step by step.”
