2026 World Cup: Arsène Wenger backs the French team
One thing is certain: Arsène Wenger believes in France's chances to win this 2026 World Cup.
In an interview with Le Figaro on the eve of the tournament's kickoff, FIFA's Director of Global Football Development named Deschamps' men as his main favorites for the ultimate crown. Arsène Wenger highlighted the squad's depth and Didier Deschamps' wealth of experience.
"I put them above the rest. France has so much talent and Deschamps has experience," Wenger stated. He also believes that Les Bleus have a unique strength in the closing stages of matches. "When you're 0-0 against France with 20 minutes to go, you lose the match. Their power makes the difference." he added.
The Alsatian is also very confident about Kylian Mbappé, predicting a "very big World Cup" for the French captain.
