Pitso Mosimane talks about working with Orlando Pirates in the future
Pitso Mosimane

South African expert Pitso Mosimane has spoken out for the first time after rumours linking him with South African giants Orlando Pirates.

The search for Orlando Pirates' next head coach has taken an interesting turn, with club legends voicing their support for Pitso Mosimane to take the reins. However, the decorated coach himself remains non-committal about a potential return to the dugout.

Legends Back Mosimane
Former Pirates stars Albert "Bashin" Mahlangu and Mpho Makola have both publicly endorsed Mosimane as the ideal candidate to succeed José Riveiro. Mahlangu, speaking on Robert Marawa's 947 show, stated his belief that Mosimane is the right man for the job. Makola echoed similar sentiments in an interview with FARPost, highlighting the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach's proven track record and ability to build on Riveiro's work.

Mosimane's Cautious Response
When approached by The Sowetan about the growing speculation, Mosimane maintained his characteristic pragmatism. "I've seen the rumors, but no one has spoken to me officially," he said. "Right now, my focus is on this badge [Pitso Mosimane Youth Football]. It means everything to me."

The Kagiso-born tactician emphasized his current commitment to grassroots development, describing his packed schedule overseeing coaching programs, school visits, and government engagements. "I'm building something lasting here," Mosimane explained. "Trophies are temporary, but legacy lasts. Between office work, pitch sessions, and school launches like the one in Rustenburg, I'm fully occupied."

While not ruling out a future return to club management, Mosimane stressed any move would need to align with his principles. "It has to be the right project at the right time. For now, I'm exactly where I need to be - developing the next generation of football talent."

The 59-year-old concluded with characteristic enthusiasm about his current role: "I'm blessed to be this busy. Every day brings new challenges, from coaching clinics to administrative work. This is my focus."
