Mohamed Salah has just added another accolade to his already glittering trophy cabinet. Voted the 2024-2025 Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers' Association (FWA), the Egyptian forward absolutely dominated the ballot, claiming 90% of the votes. Such near-unanimous support is a rarity, underscoring his phenomenal season.

With 33 goals and 23 assists across all competitions, the Egyptian superstar was the driving force behind Liverpool’s triumph, as the club secured its 20th English league title.

In the Premier League, the Nagrig-born goal machine found the net 28 times. Under new manager Arne Slot, the Reds have now matched Manchester United’s record.

Historic third crown for Mohamed Salah

This is the third time Salah has claimed this prestigious trophy, after wins in 2018 and 2022, joining the legendary Thierry Henry in the pantheon of three-time winners.

Behind him, Virgil van Dijk, Alexander Isak, and Declan Rice round out the FWA’s top selections for this year.

Liverpool’s dominance is further cemented: with sixteen players crowned since the award’s inception, the club leads the all-time list by a wide margin.

“Mo continues to push boundaries and write history,” praised FWA chairman John Cross.

Salah, already a legend, takes another step toward immortality!
