Promoted with RC Lens, Aude Gbedjissi set to discover the French women's Ligue 1
Aude Gbedjissi, the leading figure of RC Lens Féminin, is on the verge of reaching a new milestone in her career after an outstanding 2024/2025 campaign. The Beninese forward and top scorer of the Second Division will make her debut in the elite tier of French women’s football next season with the Blood and Gold.
From Tori-Bossito to Lens: a meteoric rise
Born on December 8, 1998 in Azohouè Cada, in the Beninese commune of Tori-Bossito, Aude Gbedjissi began her football journey at the Rosa Espérance academy in 2013, after being spotted at a futsal tournament in Cotonou. Her talent soon took her to Ivory Coast, where she played for Abdul Ivoire Service FC. She shone brightly, finishing as the top scorer in the Ivorian women’s league between 2018 and 2021 (first in D2, then in D1).
In 2021, she joined Racing Club de Saint-Denis in Regional 1, before signing with Yzeure FC Auvergne in Ligue 2, where she netted 15 goals in the 2022-2023 season. Her impressive performances caught the eye of RC Lens, who signed her in August 2023.
"Aude is a striker, a Beninese international, 25 years old. We’d been watching her closely for quite some time. She has a generous and versatile profile. She can play on her own or as a pair up front, but also on the flanks. She’s a great finisher with a fantastic attitude and plenty of room for growth. She was highly motivated to join us," said Sarah M’Barek, head coach of RC Lens Féminin, at the time of the Beninese striker’s signing.
Aude Gbedjissi, a key piece for RC Lens
In her very first season with the Blood and Gold, Aude Gbedjissi confirmed her talent and became a linchpin in the Lens attack. During the 2023-2024 campaign, the Beninese forward played 21 out of 22 possible matches, tallying 14 goals and 5 assists. This earned her the title of top scorer for both RC Lens and the French women’s Second Division.
A high-flying 2024-2025 season
Throughout the season, Aude Gbedjissi was a crucial asset for RC Lens. As always, the 26-year-old Beninese striker showcased her clinical finishing and ability to lead her team. A true leader up front, she scored 15 goals and provided 7 assists in 19 league matches. On May 11, 2025, as RC Lens battled Toulouse for promotion, she scored a last-minute goal to make it 3-2, securing the club’s promotion to the French women’s top flight.
On the road to D1 Arkema
With 15 goals scored, Aude Gbedjissi sits atop the scoring charts of the French women’s second division with one matchday remaining. But now, RC Lens and their Beninese striker have their sights firmly set on the 2025/2026 campaign, ready to take on the challenge of the French top flight.
