PSG: Achraf Hakimi’s classy gesture towards Real Madrid

On Wednesday night, Achraf Hakimi didn’t just take a jab at Real Madrid in the mixed zone. Well before that, the Moroccan international paid tribute to a member of the Spanish club.

Today, Achraf Hakimi is widely regarded as the best right-back in the world. This season with PSG, he has scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists across all competitions—impressive stats for a player whose primary role is in defense.

A product of Real Madrid’s academy, Hakimi had the chance on Wednesday night to face his boyhood club in the Club World Cup semi-final. The match saw PSG dominate the Merengues with a commanding 4-0 win.

After the final whistle, Achraf Hakimi went over to greet Guti, his former coach with Real Madrid’s reserve team. Guti was the one who gave Hakimi his first minutes as a professional. It was an emotional moment, shared on DAZN’s microphone by both men. “He came to see me and said: I want to give you my shirt because you helped me a lot with the Real Madrid reserves. Thank you for everything, you gave me my first chance to prove myself. You are a great coach.” Guti revealed.
