RDC vs Senegal: Simon Banza sparks the clash!
As the highly anticipated second leg between the DR Congo and Senegal approaches, scheduled for September as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Congolese striker Simon Banza is turning up the tension.
Appearing as a guest on the show Talents d’Afrique this week, Trabzonspor’s star forward didn’t hold back, issuing a clear warning to the Lions of Teranga:
“We’re waiting for them, ready and determined. We’ll be playing at home, and we’re a very good team. We have some surprises in store for them! (laughs),” he declared confidently. Video:

Yet, Banza is still chasing his maiden goal for the Leopards. Despite this drought at international level, he remains optimistic and believes he’s on the verge of a breakthrough, especially with the next AFCON on the horizon:
“It’s goals and performances that speak. You have to let time do its work. I hope to open my account with the DR Congo very soon, maybe at the AFCON,” he added.
After a remarkable season in Turkey, the Congolese forward has established himself as a key asset for his club. With 19 goals and 7 assists this season in the Süper Lig, Banza is showcasing impressive consistency.
A major weapon for a Congolese side with big ambitions against Senegal.
