Real Madrid: bad news confirmed for Federico Valverde

The Competition Committee of the Spanish Federation has made its decision regarding Federico Valverde's red card in the Madrid derby.

It must be said, Fede Valverde's sending off during the Madrid derby—which Real Madrid won 3-2—sparked major controversy in the Spanish capital. Merengues supporters believe the decision was excessively harsh, a sentiment echoed by the club’s management, who even cried foul play.

Over at Atlético Madrid, there’s a belief that the referee favored Real Madrid throughout the match. But this Wednesday, the Federation’s Competition Committee confirmed the one-match suspension for the Uruguayan midfielder.

As a result, Valverde will miss the clash against Mallorca after the international break. Real Madrid had lodged an appeal to avoid the suspension, arguing that the player was going for the ball, but the RFEF disciplinary body was unmoved by their case.
