At Real Madrid, Brahim Diaz is set to extend his contract. The Moroccan international explained the reasons for his decision just minutes before the match against Salzburg in the 2025 Club World Cup.

Although his current contract runs until June 2027, Brahim Diaz is expected, barring any major surprises, to sign an extension with Real Madrid. The talented Moroccan international is indeed part of new manager Xabi Alonso's plans.

According to Fabrizio Romano, an agreement is almost finalized between Real Madrid and the player's camp. It is highly likely that the official announcement will come after the Club World Cup, currently being held in the United States. Just hours before the Merengue's final group match against Salzburg, which takes place from Thursday night into Friday, the Moroccan confirmed the trend in an interview. He took the opportunity to justify his career choice.

"I've always felt important. Every time I was fit, I scored crucial goals. Now there's a new coach who has proven he's excellent. He knows the club well and knows exactly what he expects from us. (...) I've always had the ambition to succeed here; it's always been my goal," he said. He went on to emphasize his determination to become a first-choice starter at Real Madrid: "I'm succeeding and I want to be a starter. We know the level of competition here. We're the best players in the world and I want to give my all to earn a place in the starting lineup."
