Regragui explains Adam Aznou's absence from the national team!
In a decision that was both surprising and carefully considered, Walid Regragui, head coach of the Moroccan national team, has opted not to call up young defender Adam Aznou for the two upcoming friendlies against Tunisia and Benin, scheduled during the international break on June 6 and 9.
This exceptional decision comes as the technical staff demanded the presence of all selected players, without exception, including the likes of Brahim Diaz, Yassine Bounou, Soufiane Rahimi, and Achraf Hakimi. However, Regragui chose to allow Aznou to remain with his club, Bayern Munich, who will be competing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13.

Regragui explains his decision regarding Adam Aznou's absence
During the press conference held on Tuesday to announce the squad list, Regragui stated: "Yes, we were strict with most clubs, insisting that all our players join the camp, but Aznou's case is special. I spoke with him: he has a unique opportunity to play in a world-class competition with a giant club like Bayern Munich. I didn't want to deprive him of this experience, which could be a turning point in his career."
He added: "I know Aznou's qualities very well. I closely followed his development during his loan spell at Real Valladolid. This opportunity with Bayern could be a springboard for him to secure a permanent place in the first team. We will keep monitoring him closely."
At just 18 years old, Adam Aznou is regarded as one of Morocco's most promising football prospects. He joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022, arriving from FC Barcelona's famed La Masia academy. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is estimated at around 3 million euros.
