Senegal: Diambars return to the top flight after two years in the second division

Just two weeks after the harsh disappointment of losing the Senegal Cup final to US Saint-Louis (3-1), the Diambars Academy achieved what mattered most: clinching their ticket back to the elite of Senegalese football.

Relief was total. On June 3, 2026, Diambars FC sealed their promotion to the Senegalese top division after two seasons in the lower league. Under direct threat from AS Douanes and Dakar University Club (DUC) ahead of the final matchday in Ligue 2, the Saly side held their nerve when it mattered most.

Against Niary Tally, the Diambars players delivered a flawless performance, romping to a resounding 4-0 victory. This emphatic win secured them second place in the standings, officially confirming their promotion. Two years after their second-ever relegation, the 2013 Senegalese champions and 2021 runners-up reclaim their place among the elite.
