Back on 16 Sep, he netted the lone goal in Al Ahli’s 1 - 0 victory over Iranian giants Persepolis in the group stage opener. That moment set the tone for successful continental campaign.

Seven Months Later , History Repeats Itself

Exactly 7 and half months after his 1st strike, Kessie delivered again , this time on the grandest stage of the tournament.

Just as he started the journey with goal, he ended it with one , confirming his importance to Al Ahli’s Asian triumph.

In doing so, he became only the 2nd Ivorian player ever to score in AFC Champions league final following Abdelkader Keita’s goal for Al Sadd in the 2011 final.
