South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC are on the verge of making history. After holding Egyptian giants Zamalek to goalless draw in Cape Town, the ambitious side travels to Cairo with spot in the CAF Confederation cup semifinals within reach.

A Chance to Shock the Continent

Stellies need scoring draw on Wednesday night 16:00 GMT at the Cairo International Stadium to reach their first ever continental semifinal.

Coach Steve Barker is optimistic:

“The main objective was always to go to Cairo having a chance... I believe the pressure shifts to Zamalek”

New R395 Million Stadium Announced

Off the field Stellenbosch FC announced game changing R395 million investment: a new stadium at the Van der Stel Sports Complex.

The project includes:

  • A 5,000 seat stadium expandable to 10,000
  • Four international size grass pitches
  • Six multi purpose fields
  • A sports high school and student residence
  • 600–800 bay parking facility

The club will develop and manage the site over 30 year term while ownership remains with the Stellenbosch Municipality.

A Bold Vision for the Future

“This's more than football, It’s a long term vision for inclusive growth, education and opportunity” said CEO Rob Benadie.
