Superstars star reveals his feelings after being overlooked for the last international break!

Nigerian star Frank Onyeka expressed his disappointment when he was not called up by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the international break in March to play Zimbabwe and Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Performing well in Europe and being ignored by the national team!

After leaving on loan from Brentford last summer, Onyeka has been in fine form for German side Augsburg, making 28 appearances this season in all competitions. The experienced midfielder has provided two assists and has been one of the key pieces in helping his side settle into 11th place in the Bundesliga so far this season.

Despite being selected in the preliminary list for the Nigerian team, Bam was ultimately unsuccessful in making the final lists for both the Rwanda and Zimbabwe fixtures.

In the end, the Super Eagles took four points from the international break by beating Rwanda and drawing with Zimbabwe.

What did Onyeka have to say about not being called up?

In his recent interview with Oma Akatugba, the Nigerian international expressed his sadness saying:

I was quite sad about it, but the coach knows best, he knows what players he wants to use, But hopefully in the next couple of games I’ll be available. I’m always available, so hopefully I’ll be with the team.

With their position in their World Cup qualifying group, Maidu believes Nigeria will miss out on the chance to travel to the World Cup for the second consecutive time after the World Cup in Qatar.
