Amine Gouiri : "I would have loved to play with Drogba!"
Since his arrival at Olympique de Marseille at the start of the year from Stade Rennais, Algerian international Amine Gouiri has continued to impress. He quickly established himself as one of the most formidable forwards in Europe’s top five leagues, racking up high-level performances and dazzling statistics.
Perfectly at home in the electric atmosphere of the Vélodrome, Gouiri has become a decisive piece in Marseille’s tactical setup. Thanks to his intelligent movement inside the box and his clinical finishing, he has emerged as one of the most influential players of 2025.

His spectacular bicycle kick, scored against Stade Brestois on matchday 31 of Ligue 1, earned him the prestigious "Goal of the Year" award, handed out by the French professional players’ union. On that day, OM triumphed 4-1, with Gouiri netting a sensational hat-trick.
In a "Q&A" interview with Onze Mondial magazine, the Algerian striker expressed his admiration for Kylian Mbappé: "In my eyes, the best striker in the world right now is Kylian Mbappé."
He also revealed his dream of playing alongside a Marseille legend: "As a striker, I would have loved to play with Didier Drogba."
He elaborated on his choice, adding: "If I had to pick a legend from Olympique de Marseille to play with, since I’m a striker, I would have really liked to play with Didier Drogba. That would have been pretty great, I think."
For the record, Amine Gouiri wrapped up the second half of the season with an impressive tally of 14 matches played, 10 goals scored, and 3 assists, playing a pivotal role in Olympique de Marseille’s success. His performances were instrumental in securing OM’s qualification for the next Champions League.
