The title race in Egypt: Al Ahly close to the crown, Pyramids still hopeful!

Current leaders Al Ahly, sitting on 55 points, are two points ahead of Pyramids FC. A victory against Pharco on May 28 at Cairo International Stadium would secure a historic 45th league crown for the Cairo giants.

However, Pyramids FC have not thrown in the towel yet. The club can still dream of a maiden league title, but they must defeat Ceramica Cleopatra and hope Al Ahly slip up at the same time.

If the teams are level on points, what does the regulation say?

If both teams finish level on points after the final phase, the following tiebreakers will be applied in order:

• The highest number of goals scored in this phase.
  
• If still tied, the highest number of away goals.
  
• If the tie remains, fair play comes into play (fewest yellow and red cards).
  
• And if none of these criteria separate the teams, a draw will be held to determine the champion.
