The Trabzon transition: Mohamed Salah adapts to life outside Europe's top 5 leagues

Egypt national team captain Mohamed Salah has shared glimpses of his new life in Turkey on X, visiting the famous Trabzon highlands during a break from his duties with Trabzonspor.

Embracing the black sea landscape

The Egyptian forward posted pictures on his personal X account while touring the renowned highland plateaus of Trabzon, known locally as yaylalar.

Situated overlooking the Black Sea, the elevated pastures, including prominent destinations such as Hıdırnebi, Kadırga, Sultan Murat and Sis Dağı, draw thousands of visitors each year and represent one of the region's signature natural landmarks.

The excursion highlights Salah's ongoing adaptation off the pitch as he settles into life in northeastern Turkey following his departure from Anfield.

A new chapter in a storied career

Salah arrived at Trabzonspor this summer on a two year contract, adding the Turkish top flight to an extensive European résumé.

Over a career spanning more than a decade at the highest level, the 34 year old has featured for FC Basel in Switzerland, Chelsea in England, Fiorentina and AS Roma in Italy and enjoyed an era-defining spell with Liverpool.

His move to the Black Sea coast marks his first competitive spell outside Europe's traditional top-five leagues since his early days in Switzerland.

Individual return amid team struggles

On the pitch, Salah has delivered an immediate individual return in front of goal, finding the net four times for his new club.

However, Trabzonspor have endured a turbulent collective opening to the campaign. The team suffered an early elimination from the UEFA Europa League qualifiers and have already slipped to two defeats in the domestic league.

While the Egyptian's goal output confirms his sharpness inside the penalty area, the squad has struggled defensively and tactically to build positive early season momentum.
