‘Things didn't go as planned’ Super Eagles star Gift Orban talks about his future!
Nigerian forward Gift Orban has broken his silence on a challenging 2023–24 campaign that saw him abruptly depart Lyon for Hoffenheim in a €9 million January transfer, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
What the Najiri striker said that broke the silence!
The 22-year-old Super Eagles hopeful admitted his struggles in adapting after leaving Ligue 1 for the Bundesliga, where he sought more consistent playing time. Taking to his official X account, Orban shared a candid reflection:
"No lies—this season has been tough. Nothing went according to plan, but I stayed focused and kept working. With the finish line in sight, I’m determined to end strong and return improved."
While Orban didn’t elaborate on specific setbacks, his move to Hoffenheim marked a reset button after a stagnant spell in France. The striker’s resolve to rebound hints at a pivotal offseason ahead for his club and international aspirations.
How Najeri appeared for Lyon before his move to Hoffenheim!
The Najiri striker arrived in Lyon from KAA Gent and was highly touted on arrival and was expected to continue his campaign as one of the best young strikers on the African continent.
However, the Nigerian was unlucky, the limited opportunities he was given and the lack of consistency in his performances saw him leave Olympique Lyonnais just a year after his arrival.

In Germany with Hoffenheim, injuries have not left him alone and he has only scored 4 goals in 13 Bundesliga appearances, but he hopes to regain his place and utilise the upcoming summer to do so.
