Three African stars among the highest-paid players in Saudi Arabia
The ranking of the five best-paid players in the Saudi Pro League features three major stars from the African continent: Senegalese internationals Sadio Mané and Kalidou Koulibaly, as well as Algeria's Riyad Mahrez.
The Saudi Pro League has become one of the wealthiest football championships in the world. It currently ranks sixth globally with a market value estimated at €2.11 billion, making it the only Arab league to surpass the two-billion-euro mark.
According to the international site Goal, Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Al-Nassr, leads the ranking with a staggering annual salary of €216 million. He is followed by Karim Benzema, former Real Madrid star and current Al-Ittihad striker, who earns €108 million per year.
Third place goes to Riyad Mahrez, the Al-Ahli superstar, with an annual income of €56 million. Sadio Mané, captain of the Lions of Teranga and Al-Nassr forward, comes in fourth with an annual salary of €43 million, which averages out to around €833,000 per week.
Finally, Kalidou Koulibaly, defender for Al-Hilal, completes the top 5 with an annual income of €37 million.
