Tight Schedule Forces Pyramids FC to Ask for Postponement of Final League Fixture
Pyramids FC've formally requested the postponement of their final Egyptian Premier League match against Ceramica Cleopatra as the club prepares for the CAF Champions League final.
Tight Schedule Sparks Crisis
Pyramids who trail league leaders Al Ahly by just 2 points with 3 games left, sent official letter to the egyptian clubs association asking to delay the match scheduled for 28 May at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia.
The request comes ahead of their two legged CAF Champions league final against South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, set for 24 May (away) & 1 Jun (home in Cairo).
In the letter, the club argued:
“The team'll be in Pretoria from 19 May to 25. It's unthinkable to play crucial league game just 48 hours after returning and 72 hour before the continental final”
Knock On Effects for Al Ahly & League Calendar
Should the request be approved, the league’s conclusion would be pushed back creating scheduling issues for Al Ahly who're set to compete in the FIFA Club World cup in the U.S. from 15 Jun to 13 Jul.
The Egyptian FA'd originally set the summer transfer window to open on 2 Jun but delays are now expected , especially after the Egypt cup final between Zamalek & Pyramids was pushed to 5 Jun.
