Etoile du Sahel delivered resounding 4 - 1 away win over JS Omrane on Sunday in the opening clash of Matchday 27 of the Tunisian Ligue 1 closing in on league leaders Espérance de Tunis & US Monastir.

Lightning Start & Chaouat’s Heroics

The visitors got off to dream start scoring just 15 second into the match through Rayan Anane who headed in pinpoint cross from Firas Chaouat.

Chaouat went on to dominate the game, netting superb hattrick with goals in the 5, 24 and 70 minutes. The performance saw him rise to 14 goal, drawing level at the top of the league's scorers’ chart with Hazem Mastouri of US Monastir.

JS Omrane’s lone goal came in the 88 minute from Ahmed Hadhri.

Etoile now sits in 3rd place with 54 point just 2 points behind co leaders Espérance (56) & US Monastir (56) significantly tightening the title race.

JS Omrane remains in deep relegation trouble with 22 point sitting 14th in the standings.

Etoile du Sahel will play crucial replay against Gafsa on Wednesday 23 April after the Tunisian FA’s appeals committee ordered rematch of their 1 - 1 draw in Dec, citing the ineligibility of Gafsa's player Alkhaly Bangoura.

In another key fixture, ES Zarzis bounced back to form with 3 - 0 win over US Tataouine boosting their hopes of African qualification.

Nassim Douihech opened the scoring in the 4 minute before star striker Youssef Snana bagged a brace (6, 50). Zarzis climbs to 5th place with 50 point while Tataouine remains rooted to the bottom with 16 point.
