Tottenham Hotspur: things are getting complicated for Antoine Semenyo

The London club, Tottenham Hotspur, has reportedly been discouraged from pursuing the signing of Bournemouth’s Ghanaian striker, Antoine Semenyo. This is mainly due to the particularly high financial demands set by the Cherries.

Bournemouth are said to be asking no less than £70 million to part ways with their 25-year-old Ghana international. Semenyo had been identified as a potential target by Thomas Frank, the new Spurs manager, as part of the squad overhaul ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League. While the striker’s profile has impressed the Danish coach, his price tag raises questions.

With 13 goals and 7 assists for Bournemouth across all competitions this season, Semenyo played a key role in his team’s solid campaign, which saw them finish mid-table. However, many observers believe that his output, though respectable, does not justify such a hefty price tag, especially given his lack of experience on the European stage. Previously, Spurs were reportedly ready to spend £65 million for the Black Star.
