Transfer Battle Heats Up: United, Spurs, Liverpool All After Ghana’s Semenyo
Man United've reportedly emerged as the front runners in the race to sign Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth this summer, as the Red Devils seek to bolster their attacking options under manager Ruben Amorim.
According to Sky Sports, United're closely monitoring the 25 year old winger, who's impressed in the 2024 /25 Premier League season with 11 goal across all competitions.
Semenyo’s pace, strength and versatility with the ability to play across the frontline have made him key target for Amorim’s attacking overhaul.
However Bournemouth've placed 70 million Pound Sterling valuation on their star although reports suggest they may be willing to negotiate lower base fee with performance based add ons, similar to last summer’s Dominic Solanke deal with Spurs.
United’s Transfer Strategy Hinges on Outgoings
To fund the deal, United're expected to offload several high profile names:
- Jadon Sancho (on loan at Chelsea) – 25M Pound Sterling option or 5M Pound Sterling penalty to cancel.
- Antony (on loan at Real Betis) – performing well; Betis are keen, finances pending.
- Marcus Rashford (on loan at Aston Villa) – 40M Pound Sterling option with no decision made yet.
Securing 2 sales could pave the way for Semenyo’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Heavy Competition from Premier League Rivals
Despite United’s lead, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested.
- Liverpool are looking to rejuvenate their frontline.
- Spurs under Ange Postecoglou, see Semenyo as natural fit for their high tempo system.
It’s also reported that every top 6 club except Arsenal has made enquiries about the ghanaian international whose contract with Bournemouth runs until Jun 2029.
From Bristol to the Big Stage
Semenyo who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City for 10.5M Pound Sterling in Jan 2023 has seen his stock rise rapidly.
