Transfer market: A Spanish club tracking Samuel Chukwueze
Arriving in Italy from Villarreal in the summer of 2023, Samuel Chukwueze has struggled to convince the decision-makers at the Lombardy club. After a lackluster season, featuring 36 games across all competitions with 5 goals and 2 assists, the Nigerian winger looks set to leave the Rossoneri this summer.
Following a difficult season and with no European football on the horizon after a disappointing 8th-place finish, AC Milan are looking to start afresh. This new direction includes a gradual thinning out of their squad. Among the players who have been given the green light to depart is the former prodigy from La Cerámica. Yet, Samuel Chukwueze won’t be short of options. A return to La Liga could be on the cards, with Real Betis emerging as one of his main suitors.
AC Milan reject Real Betis' first offer
AC Milan fully intend to part ways with Samuel Chukwueze this summer. However, the Serie A side first want to recoup their investment. According to reports from the Italian press, the Milan hierarchy are demanding €15 million plus a €7 million bonus to cover the €21 million spent on the Nigerian’s arrival last summer.
Even though their initial bid was rejected, Real Betis have no intention of backing down. The Spanish club plans to return with an improved offer as negotiations with the Italian side remain ongoing. Samuel Chukwueze is the top target for Los Verdiblancos to replace Antony, who returned to United after his loan spell in Andalusia.
